Top Ten Tuesday: Thanksgiving Style

Happy Thanksgiving

We get a Thanksgiving freebie this week where we’re encouraged to write a top ten of the things we’re thankful for, bookish or non-bookish. This has been a rough year for me, personally, so I decided to go the non-bookish route and think of the things in my life for which I am thankful.

  1. As always, and at the very top of my list, I’m thankful for my husband and daughters. I have such a wonderful family and we support each other through everything. We’re also silly and crazy together. I wouldn’t change or trade our family dynamic for the world.
  2. I’m thankful for where I live. Being a military family for 17 years, we’ve moved quite a lot. I am thankful my husband was able to retire here in Florida. I love our little community and our beaches are among the most beautiful in the U.S. I love the heat and humidity in the summer and the cool’ish evenings we get in the winter. (Our temps got down into the 30s last night.)
  3. I’m thankful for my personal library. I get real joy out of seeing all the books scattered throughout my house. We have books in almost every room of the house.
  4. I am thankful for my dog, Milo. He gave us such comfort when we lost our Bailey this year. He still has some rough areas, discipline-wise, but he makes up for it by being so loving and funny.
  5. I am thankful for my three cats, Leo, Winnie, and Bean. All three were rescues and it hurts my heart to think of where they might be if they weren’t part of our family. Each has a unique personality and are funny, loving, and cuddly in their own ways.
  6. I am thankful for my education. I’ve been a student for sooooo long and it gets to be a thing that drags on you, but so many people don’t have the opportunities that I’ve had. I enjoy my museum classes very much. I just try not to think of my CE semester looming on the horizon or my staggering student loans, lol.
  7. I am thankful that my eight year old Scion still runs like a top. I get sentimentally attached to my cars and this one is no exception. I love it and am happy that it’s still reliable, comfortable, and the stereo still rocks. Incidentally, this is the oldest car we’ve ever had since being married and we bought it new.
  8. I am thankful for all my little hobbies:  crocheting, makeup and nail polish, reading, video gaming, and now, planner organization. I’m not really sure what the planner thing is called. I call it, plannering, but that isn’t even a word, lol.
  9. I am thankful for my house. This is down on the list because I think this house is cursed, but I am thankful, nonetheless, that it’s comfortable, keeps us out of the elements, and fulfills our needs (mostly) in a house. It’s more than a roof over our head (assuming the roof doesn’t catch on fire or have a tree fall through it, knock on wood).
  10. Lastly, (it’s only last for drama’s sake) I am thankful for yet another Thanksgiving with my family. This is, by far, our favorite holiday out of the year. It’s all about being together without outside stuff intruding. We enjoy the food and each other’s company and I just love the warm, fuzzy feeling that pervades our home on this holiday. I hope each and everyone of you out there has a fantabulous November 26th with your family and loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.Snoopy Thanksgiving

  1. This is a beautiful list, Trisha. Your love for your family shines through. I am glad Milo has brought you comfort. My cat Gracie has done that for me after the loss of my dog, Riley, and cat, Anya. Sometimes I think I see each of them in Gracie just from little things she does. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving too!
